A noteworthy review of Favorite Children's Songs from Children's Bookwatch on November 1, 2009

Cover: Grey Squirrel

Every child is familiar with the songs that mothers sing to them as infants and toddlers. Now The Child’s World has published a splendidly illustrated series of brightly colored, 16-page, hardcover picture books based on eight of the most popular and well-known of these childhood tunes. Enhanced with a reinforced library binding for an extended shelf life, a section specifically describing movements and gestures, and featuring simple ‘child friendly’ text written at a first grade level with a preschool through second grade interest level, the individual titles comprising this outstanding and highly recommended series for family, school, and community library collections includes Grey Squirrel; I’m a Little Teapot; The Itsy Bitsy Spider; Knock at the Door; Pat-a-Cake, Pat-a-Cake; Round and Round the Garden; The Wheels on the Bus; and Where is Thumbkin?. Although each title is available individually, the highest recommendation is for acquisition of the complete set.
