A noteworthy review of Classic Tales by Beatrix Potter from Children's Bookwatch on January 1, 2010

Cover: The Tale of Benjamin Bunny

Beatrix Potter books have been enduringly popular with young readers and their parents for some five generations. Now a new edition of six iconic titles have been published by The Child’s World in their ‘Classic Tales by Beatrix Potter’ series. With a text written at a second grade reading level and storylines that will thoroughly engage young readers from kindergarten through third grade, each 24-page book is published with a reinforced library binding making it ideal for school and community library collections. Featuring full-color reproductions of Potter’s lovely artwork, this series includes ‘The Tale of Benjamin Bunny’; ‘The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse’; ‘The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse’; ‘The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin’; ‘The Tale of the Flopsy bunnies’, and, of course, ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’. Of special note is a listing of the complete works of Beatrix Potter. Although each title is available separately ($24.21 List/$16.95 Library), both school and community libraries should acquire the entire series ($145.26 List/$101.70) for both the savings and the benefit to their young patrons.
