Editorial Review

A noteworthy review of Journey to Freedom: The African American Library from School Library Journal on July 1, 1999

Cover: George Washington Carver

Attractive and clearly written biographies of two men who have been influential in the struggle for the rights of African Americans. Their lives and achievements are chronicled from birth to death in a concise manner. The large, beautifully reproduced sepia-toned photographs on almost every page help personalize the text. Words that readers might not understand are italicized in the narrative and defined in the glossary. Time lines outline the events in each man’s life and sources for further information are included. Definite assets to any collection, particularly for reluctant readers.
