A noteworthy review of Professional Football Teams from Booklist on October 1, 2022
Meet the Cincinnati Bengals in this attractive volume from the Professional Football Teams series (32 titles). Double-page features, such as ‘Heroes from History,’ ‘Modern Day Marvels,’ and ‘The GOAT’ (Greatest of All Time), present a few of the team’s star players, past and present. Other spreads introduce the mascot, the fans, and Paul Brown Stadium, named for the team’s ‘original owner and first coach.’ The many photos and the design elements in the Bengal’s signature colors (black, white, and orange) stand out distinctly from the pages’ muted, deep-green backgrounds. Anderson provides enough information to fill in the team’s history for young fans, ending with their win in the 2022 AFC Championship game. Colorful photos appear throughout the book, and many show action on the field. It’s a rousing kickoff for this appealing series.
